A not-to-be-missed event since its launch in 1994, the SILMO d'Or rewards and celebrates the talent and creativity of an entire industry every year. The SILMO d'Or awards are the ultimate recognition of the ingenuity and inventiveness of over 350 companies !

In 1994, the SILMO organisers, always willing and committed to highlight the optical and eyewear sector, decided to reveal this formidable energy: they created trophies to crown and consecrate the excellence, creation and innovation of manufacturers and brands from all around the world. Over 30 years, the prize that embodies the SILMO d'OR has rapidly become a coveted reference.

To create and innovate is to succeed in the challenge of launching something new on a market, a crucial challenge for the competitiveness of companies in an environment where competition is always strong. Creation and innovation are also a formidable source of energy internally because they stimulate know-how and skills within companies. This energy is increased tenfold when they are rewarded by professionals.

A legendary award, the Grand Prix des SILMO d’Or puts the reputation of companies in the market, their teams, and their know-how to a test. It is an opportunity to get high visibility and recognition in the optical sector.

A look back at the SILMO d'Or 2025 ceremony

Black-and-white portrait of Joachim Froment, appointed jury president of the SILMO d'Or 2026

Designing objects that create lasting emotions

A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, Joachim Froment has developed a singular approach to design, shaped as much by engineering as by artistic resonance. He advocates a “symbiosis between poetry and industry,” a vision in which the object is no longer limited to its function, but becomes a vector for experience and interaction.

After starting his career in Copenhagen alongside leading Scandinavian names, he co-founded Futurewave, a design and technology studio collaborating with global leaders such as Renault, LVMH, Richemont and pioneering tech companies, with the ambition of redefining our relationship with contemporary objects.

A holistic approach to design

His vision goes beyond human-centred design, advocating instead an “ecosystemic” approach in which products are conceived as essential links within a circular system. From furniture to mobility, from lighting to consumer electronics, his creations are driven by the same pursuit: deepening the connection between the user, the object and its environment.

Recipient of several international distinctions — including the iF Design Awards, Good Design Awards and Core77 Awards — Joachim Froment has developed a creative language that is at once forward-looking, sculptural and sensitive, guided by the principle of “Agape,” where human experience and the future of our ecosystem coexist with elegance.

The SILMO d'Or selection

A demanding process driven by the commitment of passionate experts and journalists

Every year, at the beginning of September, the SILMO d'Or jury, made up exclusively of experts and professionals from the sector, meets in Paris for a series of committees. Their mission: to deliberate and select the nominees. At the SILMO Paris trade fair, the media join in the process by voting alongside the members of the jury. At the same time, other committees re-examine the nominees before giving their final verdict on the winners.

After more than 40 hours of rigorous discussions, 12 prizes are awarded in 10 prestigious categories, rewarding innovation and excellence in the sector. This meticulous work is the fruit of the passionate commitment of more than 100 jury members and their Chairman. A huge thank you to all of them for their expertise and remarkable dedication.

An EXTRA collection in every sense of the word. More than just an accessory, it's a bold style statement: the frames feature unique contours and a distinctive design, adding a touch of personality without compromising on comfort. The frames are cut from 8 mm acetate and feature continuous nose pads. The faceted profile visually softens the frontal impact of the thick frames, maintaining a solid structure and lightness.
